Ruger Precision Rifles on sale at CDNN

I just received a sales email from CDNN about their Ruger Precision Rifles. They are selling them below cost...$899 for 6CM, $999 for .308Win and ,223. The 6CM version has a 24 in bbl, and the 308 & 223 have 20 inch barrels. Looks like a great deal and I've never had problems with CDNN in the past. Closeout on 2nd gen keymod rifles as Ruger discontinues them in favor of 3rd gen models with MLOK forends.

I guess it depends on what they buyer wants to use the rifle for. KeyMod is probably fine for the average person who won't be running and gunning with the rifle. If they intend to use the rifle competitively in PRS, etc then M-Lok would probably be better and less frustrating for them.

I've never had an issue with key mod coming loose. I've never had an issue with m-lock coming loose. But, key mod is relatively easy to install, while I find m-lock to be mostly frustrating. M-lock looks better and it seems that's the way the industry is moving, so I guess I'll move with them.

It is unfortunate that the DD 1913 handguard in slide two was not also included as a control. If we are comparing the two ways of attaching a 1913 rail so as to attach an accessory, maybe we should also include the 1913 railed handguard to see if it provides an advantage.

I also like the Drop 6B image with the failed buttstock.

Ah, I see! So M-Lok outperformed Keymod in 3 out of 5 tests that far exceed anything imaginable during normal, even extreme weapon use. I can totally see why M-lok is better for shooting in a PRS match.

guys, I don't care what rail you pick or why. I just think it's really silly to pass up a great deal on a gun because it's got a keymod rail because of some outlandish military testing results.

If you’re thinking about getting one now is a great time to buy. You can put any mlok rail of your choice and still be cheaper than a new gen 3 rifle (or 2.5 or whatever they are calling them).

Thw whole keymod vs mlok is one of the most ridiculous arguments going on in the gun world. If you guys want a good laugh head over to Facebook and watch these guys talk about it! Yea the Army is starting to use it, but they also chose to go with the Sig P320s so.......

I am so tempted to grab the 6CM version at that $899 price. But I'm not really sure I 'need' it. Have a Tikka CTR in 6.5 that shoots much better than I do already. Also trying to decide on getting Christensen MPR vs a PVA JH. But that temptation to add another good shooter is pretty strong, especially as the $899 seems a heck of a deal. I'd likely not attach anything other than a bipod to the handguard. KeyMod vs MLOK won't matter for that.

Just sucks that after WA state's crappy collection of sales tax on all new purchase FFL transfers & paying a transfer fee that the total ends up being around $1020.

Yeah, came to my senses shortly after posting and thinking it over. Will put it towards JH or MPR or a barreled action for 6.5 PRC.

Well, no. I said if you have skin the game, get the JH. If you don't, get the rifle that costs half as much and you can have today. The RPR is an excellent starter rifle, especially if you're not sure you want to commit the time and money to the discipline. Even once you've decided this discipline is for you, it's an excellent low-cost rifle though I suspect most folks would have developed preferences to inform the choice of their next rifle.

The main reason I posted this was that I thought it was a good deal for those who don't have anything to shoot and might be new to precision/tactical shooting. Of course, there are better rifles out there but they'll probably cost at least $4k or so without glass. At least these rifles will allow somebody to get started without breaking the bank and allow them to get the training, etc that goes along with the type of shooting that most of us enjoy!!
