I know it's a little off topic, because it's not really a precision rifle, but it is a bolt gun and I wasn't sure where else to post...

But are there any Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle owners out there? If so, any opinions on the rifle, accuracy, etc?

Re: Ruger Scout Rifle

Do a search, there are multiple threads about this rifle from around when it came out. I had one, it was handy, but ordered a SPECTER from black ops and sold it. Accuracy wasn't the best but it also isn't terrible. It is a nice general purpose gun.

Re: Ruger Scout Rifle

I like mine. It can shoot .75 inch groups (with a scope) with the right load. But it will take some work. It is the not the best tool for precision shooting. But I wanted a rifle that was fast handling and could be used for hunting and it looks cool. Also it is a good idea to practice with open sights as well. Anyone can shoot well with a good scoped rig. Just saying! It is fun and mine is not for sale.

Regards

Re: Ruger Scout Rifle

I've got one. Traded for it a little over a year ago. Ended up getting divorced & haven't made it to the range with it yet. I can tell you it's a handy length & balances really well. A the range reports from owners I've seen have said anywhere from around 1"-close to 1 3/4", (with factory loads). I already had a precision rifle. The Scout fills a different role.

I agree with DeSnifter ... not extremely accurate ... bedding similar to the M24 helps, but the bolt is not as tight as I would like. The slower the bolt action the sloppier it is. I still enjoy throwing rounds down range with it.
