Runout troubles update

In anycase, after a bunch of testing and buying better equipment, different methods of cleaning, sizing and what not, the bottom line of what I found is that using the redding competition seating die with any amount of compression of powder will cause some seated bullet runout for my combination of components.

I don't know why, but it does. I can take an empty case fully prepped and seat a bullet between .001 and .002 TIR. Add powder with just an ever slight bit of Crunch and the Runout will increase up to .004 TIR.

This is what I have found, but I don't know if there's still something else I'm missing or not doing. I can't imagine I'm the only one using slightly compressed loads (If I can even call my loads compressed) with redding comp dies. I would think more people would be noting runout issues with compression then.

FWIW load data lapua brass .30-06 56.7gr RL22 208 amax seated 3.340"

redding comp dies don't do compressed loads well, especially in .223 where we are using 80s. the seating stem has a habit of splitting...bottom line, moved over to Forster dies

That's true but know that your ammo is as perfect as it can be removes doubt

Forster dies behave differently? If so might have to try them out instead

I've found that the rounds with runout less than .002" TIR shoot better. Be it that it actually does shoot more consistently and accurately or my brain thinks it does probably doesn't matter

Mentally I feel more confident in my rounds that have minimal runout than the ones that are greater than .004" TIR.

I have taken rounds that I've corrected runout from greater than .004 TIR down to less than .002 TIR and at 300 yards I have found it made a difference. Again, no actual testing, I'm not saying I have empirical data. IT could simply be a confidence factor in my ammunition that I've done everything I can to make it as perfect as it could be.
