Rust in the bore

I recently acquired a R700 varmint rifle made in 1995. The muzzle has a small amount of rust that is being stubborn, but the rest of the bore seems to be clean and mirror polished. Is the small amount of rust anything to worry about?

Depends where exactly at the muzzle and how bad it is? I'll say if it's at the crowns edge that could hurt the accuracy.

If not and it's not deep might not hurt anything at all.

If it's let's say just a 1/8" or 1/4" in from the muzzle....have the barrel shortened a little bit and recrown it.

I am no longer worried about the small amount of rust in the bore. I got it cleaned out where it was almost no longer visible. Shot my first 20rds through it today. I put 7rds in a 3/4MOA x 1/2MOA group using Federal GM Match 168g ammo. I’m more than pleased. I’ll get the stuff to tune some hand loads for it and I’m sure that’ll tighten things up even more.
