So there I was fondling all kinds of things and noticed a difference in a few scopes I had. Looking into a S&B from the objective end I seen a difference in the inside tube. Hard to describe but, one appears to have a smooth inside while the other appears to have rectangles cut out along the inside of the tube. (number/letter engraving is just a bit different also)

I will try to get some pics.

Just because I am curious I would like to know more.

There's your problem. You were looking in the wrong end

Seriously, try to get some pics. Wondering what it is you are talking about. What are the full specs of the scopes you are comparing?

I keep telling the DR that!

I will work on pics today, model is a 5-25x p4f mil.

Both P4F? Both about the same age as in when they were made? Just wondering if over the years there were a couple different parts on the internals to secure the reticle. My new 5-25 looks like the second picture but unfortunately I sent my older model out on Friday to get the reticle swapped to the H2CMR so I can't look down that. It is tough to take those pics. I tried and failed LOL

Both scopes work fine?

When you turn the mag ring the inside slides along a channel, seems they changed the design on how the magnification lens moves along maybe.
