I currently have a MTC S&B PMII, and I'm not nuts about the turrets. A member reached out and showed me how to remove the MTC feature, but I'd like to get some feedback on the DT turrets. Are they appreciably better (smoother, better spaced, audible, etc.) than the MTC design? I have a tendency to blow past a few 1/10ths when dialing on a stage with the MTC, and I'm looking for a better turret to keep things smoother on the clock.

Thanks.

The Schmidt spacing in general even on the DT's are pretty tight. I think either turret you get, you will have to practice with it. The one thing I don't like about the DT's is the indicator. Unless you are directly behind the scope it's tough to tell what is actually dialed.

I have a DT and Locking MTC

I dont notice a difference in smoothness, or spacing. In general i prefer the non mtc as alot of time i will over run after a detent as you stated.

but i do love the detent feature when returning to zero.

i would probably just removed the mtc feature on your current scope and try that, i would probably keep it on the windage knob though.

The Original DT is my favorite turret, I believe you can send in the MTC variants and they will remove the heavy detent.

The issue is the .1 to .2 before and after the heavy detent, it causes you to miss those adjustments close to the detent.

Contact S&B I believe Jerry is still doing retrofits

Now is a great time to find the older stock of DT scopes at a great price, MHSA had a bunch and several of us grabbed at $2400 when they were blowing out the old stuff.

Thanks Frank, I'll see what S&B says about the MTC delete and report back.

Update: I didn't wanna chance anything warranty wise, so I sent it off to Jerry. I just got my scope back from S&B, and holy crap did that make a difference. Changed the entire feel of the elevation turret, and I'm super pleased I did the MTC delete.

I haven’t felt s&b’s MTC turrets but when I had a premier with them I treated them like a 2 stage turrets. I would dial the whole mil and then the tenth. I don’t mind them at all. Of course I wasn’t dialing on the clock.

For anything non PRS related, the MTC is completely fine. But when your dialing on a barricade under time, it gets a little spicy lol.

What kind of pricing to get rid of the MTC?

$100. But that covered return shipping, a cleaning, inspection, and clean bill of health. It was nearly $50 to ship it insured, so it's really not that bad considering. You also retain your full warranty this way. I'm with @Hellbender that they'd probably never know, but in the scheme of things it was worth the peace of mind.
