I'm fixing to shell out the kids college fund to get a S&B PMII 5-25X56 L/P P4 fine MRAD DT CCW and I'm concerned that the P4F is to fine. I can also get the normal P4 and therein lies the question.

Has anyone looked through either one in the early morning or late afternoon at dark objects?

I will be shooting out to 1500 meters while hunting and possibly at competitions?

It will go on a AWSM and if anyone has any .02 on MTC I would appreciate it as well.

Thanks in advance for everyone's time and thoughts.

Or you could also get the MSR. If you are lookin to do competitions and they have UKD stages, the MSR has a 4mil ranging L in the lower left quadrant. The first and last mils ofthe L are .1 mil hash marks.

I just placed my order for one on Tuesday.

Try to find someone with one and make your own decision. I have the P4F and its not too fine, but again that just me. I found the regular P4 too thick. BTW, what are you hunting out to 1500 metres, lol.

I looked through a P4F the other day when a member was so kind as to let me shoot enough rounds to make me order an AW as soon as I got a chance. But I didn't have the chance to look through the scope during low light situations and I'm wondering how the fine stands up Vs. the P4 in times when I would most use it.

Re: S&B PMII 5-25X56 P4fine... Or not to fine

When I ordered a S&B, I was worried the P4f would be too fine. However, after spending some range time with my new 5-25x PMII P4F, it think it's about perfect. To regular P4 was way too thick for my liking. The new MSR also looks nice, but I'm personally satisfied with the P4F.

Re: S&B PMII 5-25X56 P4fine... Or not to fine

I also like the P4 fine over the standard p4. My buddy has the gen2 mildot and I believe the reticle thickness is close to the same as the P4, he likes my P4F better because. I always had the NF npr1 reticle which is extremely fine compared to the S&B and in low light it seems a less visible so the P4F works way better for me as it is slightly thicker and better for low light visability.

I tried both the MTC and the standard turrets before ordering my S&B. I actually liked the regular turrets more. With the MTC's, I had a really hard time dialing .1 mils past a full mil (example: 2.1 mil's). Having the more defined "clunk" at a full mil that the MTC's give is nice, but I have no problem seeing a full mil on the regular turrets. For my needs, I'm happier with the standard ones.

I have the 5-25x56 CCW MTC P4F and love it. The only time it becomes a issue is if your using 5x magnification and then it a little hard to see the super fine cross hairs of the reticle but this hasn't been a problem for me.

Re: S&B PMII 5-25X56 P4fine... Or not to fine

The P4F is an excellent reticle. You won't be sorry getting it in that scope. That said if you wanted a good reticle that will be fully illuminated for the lower light shots then look at the new H2CMR that S&B has now.

As for the MTC, it's a personal choice. I don't like MTC turrets in any scope. Not just S&B models. I find them harder to use quickly as like Matt said getting to the .1 or .2 mil mark after the full mil is tougher and I see no need for them for my uses.

I have a 5-25 P4F and love it. The reticle is very thin at 5x but since the scope tunnels below 7.5x there is no need to ever zoom below 7.5x since the field of view does not increase. The 56mm obj gathers enough light to be effective at 7.5x in low light. The reticle also has excellent illumination which will help you pick it up.
