Rifle Scopes S&B scope codes?

Re: S&B scope codes?

SD should be a short dot, and I'm not sure if LM is the locking turret setup or the FFP Flashdot vs the LE with the SFP retical-but don;t quote me on that.
PM is a Zenith I believe that has the 1-4X in 180 degree throw of the power ring.
Pretty sure short dots are all 30mm.....
Somebody find a good deal?

I'd check with Mike at CS Tactical or Rob01 might look into it for you, Team Blaster's pretty tight with S&B.

Re: S&B scope codes?

Thanks abersfelderami for the info. However, there must be an alternative meaning for "SD". I just called the seller and got an in-hand description and it's definitely not a Short Dot.

There were four S&B 1.5-6x42 Klassic scopes on GunsAmerica last night with A7, A8, A9 and P3 reticles. They are identical except for their reticles, but two of the boxes say "SD". I was hoping for a Short Dot myself, but it wasn't happening. I did buy the one with the P3 reticle, it's nearly perfect for an AR even without a lit reticle. I think the P3 mil dot is pretty rare in this model.

The seller is Legendary Guns in Phoenix, if anyone else wants one at a good price from an authorized dealer.

Re: S&B scope codes?

Low turrets like the S&B Klassic has can allow you to mount a MRD behind the elevation turret - straight up and not canted to one side. Here's a venerable Zeiss 1.5-6x42 Diavari with low military turrets in an AD Recon mount and a Docter MRD in a GG&G mount directly behind the elevation turret, straight up. I'm probably going to do the same with my new Klassic 1.5-6x42. These small, variable scopes are great on an AR but sometimes there isn't time to turn the magnification ring when you need to shoot fast (incoming ferile pig, for example). For me, this is a better setup than the new S&B, Premier and Leupold 1-8x scopes would be - and cheaper too.

Re: S&B scope codes?

Very cool, but I'm fond of 3 gun style: MRD at 1:00

I knew when you posted we'd find out what you were talking about..........if there was anything left after you decided to buy

Re: S&B scope codes?

Zenith and Klassik line doesn't have SD identifier, somebody fu.
1-6x42 is Zenith line, it comes with FD for FlashDot, FFP and SFP , Reticle A1, A4, A7, A9 switched to FD1, FD4, FD7, FD9, Posicon turrets, long eye relief.
Klassik no FD.

Re: S&B scope codes?

LL,
In about 1999/2000 time frame my hunting buddie bought a S&B 1.5-6x42 Classic.
The scope they sent was the older style ocular with the 3.15 eye relief. We knew that they had upped the eye relief to 3.75 so I told my buddie to send it back and request the longer eye relief version. At that time the longer eye relief versions were very limited and they were trying to sell the them as "Dangerous game scopes",What ever that means.
I suspect S&B was just trying to unload as much of the short eye relief invertory as possible.
When the requested scope showed up it had the fixed 3.75 eye relief and the rear ocular was about .08 bigger in diameter. And is the current rear ocular of all the S&Bs I see today.
The scope was ordered with a straight up no.4 reticle. The heavey part of the cross is much closer to the aim point than say a 4a or 7a or what ever they call it now.
On the windage cap instead of the engraved white circle with a dot in the middle like every other S&B on the planet were the letters S/D.
Yep,it looks just like that to..... S/D.
We called them and asked them what S/D means.
It means
Standing and Driven game.
The 4 reticle was a special order and the S/D was the result.

take care
