Looking at the 1.1-4 short dot as well as the new 1.1-8 short dot and PH scopes. Going on a BCM 1/8 RECCE Precision 16" Carbine. Any suggestions and any suggestions on where to get Short Dots and PH scopes?

When is the 1.1-8 short dot going to be released?

Thanks,
Kevin

No. Recommend the S&B over the PH based on size. Might consider the USO 1.5-6 with EREK.

Does the S&B have the same sort of switchover that the Premier has, where the SFP red dot automatically illuminates @ 3X or below? I haven't seen either in person, but sounds like a nice feature. I'd look at all the specs before deciding. Size on these scopes seems like it won't be a huge issue (literally).

My question on the 1-8 sb is that since the dot is sfp and the reticle is ffp and the dot will not grow in size with more magnification, is the opticstill fast to pick up at closer ranges

It is in my 1.1-4x Short Dot but seeing as the 1-8x aren't out yet it's hard to say for sure but I am betting it's the same.

Isn't the entire 1.1-4x Short Dot reticle either FFP (earlier versions) or SPF (later versions)?

Re: S&B Short Dot or PH suggestions and where to get?

Actually the way a short dot is made, both the dot and the reticle are in the FFP. Short dots use a technology called a beamsplitter- in laymans terms this is 2 prisms glued together with the reticle placed on the end of the furthest prism from the eye and then a LED is positioned from the side that bounces off the angle of the first prism and lines up with the reticle on the second prism.
That is the hard part- getting the dot to line up with the center of the reticle. Sometimes the dot will "float" off to one side or another and the beamsplitter needs to be replaced.

The PH uses a different technology than the beamsplitter.

The S&B 1-8 I am not sure the technology used there and don't want to send false information.

Do they make custom turrets? I know that the short dot has M855 and M118LR and 75gr TAP BDC turrets. I will mainly be using Mk262, are there BDC turrets for those?
