I have a Rem700 VLS in 308 that I'm wanting to get upgraded. I have a McMillian A5 stock that I will be sending along to get bedded also. I'm wanting a new barrel and getting the whole barreled action cera-koted.
They told me to box it up and send it in along with a letter stating what I want done. My question is how detailed do I make the letter? Do I need to tell them what bullet I want it throated for or overall cartridge length?
The A5 stock has a Remington varmint contour so I'm thinking I will stay with that contour but I'm thinking a 24" barrel would be good. As for twist, I'm assuming a 1 in 11.25 is the way to go right? I assume they always go with Bartlin barrels.
As for the action I think I'll have them upgrade the bottom metal to a Badger BDL style. I don't need detachable mags. Should I get the extractor replaced with a M16 style?
I was just wondering how much I need to give them when I send it in. Or if they would call and go over the specs before starting on it. I'm worried there could be a confusion on what I put down on paper and what I really want.
