a buddy of mine won a body guard at a gun bash a year ago. after being on "back order", it finally came in yesterday. meanwhile, the shop has had some in and sold them. i think she was just giving him the run around. and she wants to charge him $20, for a gun he won at a gun bash!!! anyways...

he wants to know if he got a recent production run. what date code, or serial number should he look for? thanks.

$20 for the FFL transfer is reasonable, in Oregon $10 of that would go to the state for the background check, so the FFL's here charge even more.

You'll likely have to call S&W for that info or look on gunbroker.com for pics posted of used and brand new ones and compare the numbers.
