I have heard that the S&W M&P 15-22s were blowing extractors? has anybody else experienced this with theirs? I read about 2 different ones. Smith repaired them and returned them quick. Oddly enough both blowouts were with remington bulk pack ammo. Related or coincidence dont know.

Mine shoots 1.5-2" groups at 35yds with the factory iron sights with Federal 525 bulk pack laying prone. I dont think I could possibly even hold better than than that at that range with open sights.

As for reliability...I usually have one round per clip get jammed, I havent figured out whether the spent cases are not getting out of the way quick enough for the new round or not. I think its just a somewhat poorly designed ramp, because what happens is that the nose of the new round being chambered misses the chamber and just gets jammed against the top of the gun.

Ive played around with bending the ejector a little bit and it seemed to have gotten a lot better, no problems in two clips, so well see.

Overall though I love the thing. Soo much fun to shoot, and soooo cheap to shoot obviously. Im taking my barrel to get threaded this week for my YHM Phantom, should be even more fun then.

clips are what is used in the M1 Garand, MAGAZINES are what we use in our AR-15s and the S&W M&P 15-22......., OK ?

missed this the first time, extrocator i believe you just invented a new word, "ex-tro-cator" ..., actually i like it, lets petition Websters to include it in their next updated edition.

Totally agree = ="

Back to the original post. I've put through 500 rounds of Federal bulk down my M&P15-22, no FTE, 1 FTF (Due to dent ammo).

I wouldn't use Remington bulk, they're useless and very inconsistent.

Federal bulk gives me around 2inches at 50yds, and the groups are shrinking. I need to get some other ammo to try, and to polish the trigger abit.

My friend just got this rifle and has the same trouble with Rem ammo. We use winchester and its fine.

How many rounds went through the gun when it had this problem? If you didnt keep count i understand

Don't mind him, it's just Pete being his usual d$#khead.Has nothing much of value to say, no friends and no life. All he can do is be an internet wannabe/impressor.Maybe he can spell too since he has a lot of time to sit and stare at the Webster's.
So sad....

Re: S&W M&P15-22 extrocator problems?

My M&P15 22LR is running fine with all but Remington ammo. There have been a few instances of extracter failure but the factory has cured the issue. Watch when loading magazines to make sure that the rounds are all going bullet nose up. Magazines are cheap, so buy extra!

Re: S&W M&P15-22 extrocator problems?

Just got mine threaded recently, now its twice as fun. Theres another thread here

Ive been messing with my extrocator a little at a time to see if I can fine tune it just right to run flawlessly.

Ive had good success with the Federal 525 bulk pack

Golden bullets just plain suck

Thunderbolts are so so, worse than feds though

Rem subsonics suck

Fiocchi subsonics are too lightweight to cycle

Aguila subsonics are the shit, 60gr bullets, cycle every time...dead silent too, all you hear is the slide slapping the boltface

I bought some spitfires and federal 40gr solids to try out tomorrow.

Re: S&W M&P15-22 extrocator problems?

Thanks for the advice, I had never thought of that problem. I ran 20 through it and they all hit straight.

Also I ran 3 mags through with not a single FTE or FTF this morning, I think I have the extractor bent just perfectly now, its basically almost rubbing on the bottom of the bolt and also the side face of it as well.

Those 3 mags that ran great were Fed 525 bulk, Fed 40gr solids, and Fed spitfires. Also to be noted, I ran through each of them rather quickly, 2-3 shot bursts, unloading the whole mag within 45sec

Are you running a .30 cal can on that, or is that a .223 can?
