So I went to the range Saturday to re-sight in my S&W MP-15 after installing some new scope mounts and realized how much I hate the stock trigger in this gun. Would something like a RRA 2-stage be a big improvement? I really can't afford a Geisslle (sp?). Any other suggestions?

Re: S & W stock trigger

You'll notice improvement from the stock M&P AR trigger to the RRA 2-stage NM, but it is purely subjective in terms of whether it is "a big improvement" or not.

As for the Geissele triggers...while expensive...they are arguably the single finest AR triggers available at this time in my experience/opinion. If you can hold off an extra couple of paychecks, the Geissele trigger will be worth the wait and extra cash.

In the meantime, you might try some of the typical "home remedies" as far as AR trigger jobs are concerned to see if you can't make your current trigger a little better while you save up for the Geissele!

Thanks. I also seem to recall someone here talking about a trigger that was "spin off" from Geissele. I think it may his wife's company? Can't remember the name.

Re: S & W stock trigger

Sorry about the repetition, but does anyone know the name of this company, or can recommend a single stage (preferably) or two stage solution for about $120?

ALG is what you're thinking of. Refined mil-spec, much improved feel and close to minimum mil-spec pull weights.

Cheapest route, polish yours up. Second cheapest get yellow JP springs, they come with polishing instructions. Did this, ok with the results.

Only non mil-spec stock one I have experience with is CMMG's two stage, its low cost, its not great, decent feel but very heavy, may try JP springs in it. I don't recommend it as is.
