I need help with id of this sabre. The blade is 34 inches from tip to hand guard.

It has not been sharpened. I was thinking 1840 model. There is no made in USA or china anywhere visible. I don't want to take apart the handle to look under it.

I'd have thought the blade would have the maker's name or something on it. Looks like it could be an 1850 Foot Officer's, like @IrishWind said, but on the other hand it could be some kind of private purchase sword that doesn't conform 100% to the typical American swords you see, like this one that's got a German blade mated to a British-style Gothic hilt with a Federal eagle in place of the Royal Cipher:
