SAC: DTA barrel fluting.

I just wanted to post some info about our Short Action Customs DTA contoured barrels from Bartlein barrel blanks.

We have Karl Feldkamp doing all of our barrel fluting at this point. He does an excellent job and his turn around is great. We have Karl do a heavy straight fluting on the 1.250" section of the barrel as well as on the straight taper on the barrel. In some cases we can remove around 13-16 ounces off the barrel.

Here are some weights.

DTA 308 factory barrel, 22". 4.032 LBS.
SAC/DTA 308, 22", non fluted. 5.378 LBS.
SAC/DTA 6.5 CM, 26" non fluted. 6.127 Lbs.

I will post more fluted barrel weights shortly.

Proof Research 338 blank, chambered 338 LM cut to 26" and threaded with custom thread protector.

Covert barrel 17" 308".
