Sad to see it die, installed in 1964 and continuously ran until this week our GE Americana refrigerator stopped working
after over 60 years. Have not diagnosed what the issue is but I will probably try to repair it.
Compressor comes on but it does not cool.

Not ours but what a cool fridge.

I had a Kitchen-Aid refrigerator that lasted over 25 years, but the house I bought already had a GE, It still does.

If I ever need to replace the GE, I know I won't be getting one of those IOT type of fridges. I definitely do not want it telling me, "You need to buy more this/that, etc.)." Totally creepy!

And here I am on my 3rd fridge and 4th dishwasher in 10 years
Wait, you’re on your fourth wife? Ouch.

Jokes aside, let me quote a coworker. “Fucking chinese junk wont last dick for shit. But fuck, i cant get someone in the U.S to make it either….and don’t even get started on that european trash.” That was a fun oceanic crossing.

I lost this family member a couple years ago after 55ish years of service.

My parents bought it some time in the late 60's, sort of a whole matching set. Trash can, sink, stove, oven, portable dishwasher and fridge. You can see the dishwasher and trash can in the background, me, Pebbles and mom in the foreground.

When I told me dad it finally died he jokingly said "Well if I knew it was only going to last 60 years I never would have bought the damn thing! " :D

About 1970 my parents bought brand new Sears Kenmore washer and dryer set. Use to be an appliance repairman man in our town, try finding one of those today. Anyway, the dryer made it over 30 years. The washer over 35 years, cause of death ? The tub rusted out. My mom bitched and whined about having to replace them. I asked her if she remembers when exactly she bought them. She knew. I laughed and told her things don't ;ask forever and that her and dad got their money's worth out of those 2 appliances. Their Kenmore refrigerator? Over 25 years..
Appliances made/built back then were simple and didn't have lots of unnecessary electronics on them that would go bad.

The washing machine my household uses is a Maytag that my parents bought when my old brother was born. That was back in 1980. I inherited it at 17 when I moved out. Other than the warm/hot water not working, a button missing, and squeaky spin cycle, the machine washes clothes just fine.

I have no idea how old this icemaker is but it came with this old mini ranch I bought 10 years ago. I have replaced every mechanical part in it except the compressor. It makes the most perfect whiskey ice but unfortunately I have had to slow down on that but still keep it running.
It is the most inefficient ice maker ever it constantly cycles water thru it but I have a perpetually cold water dog bowl rigged on the drain.
Scottsman. Out in my barn kitchen
