Lost in the Woods. MO
I have a SAKO TRG-22 and recently I have problems with the bipod not locking into the slot in the chasis. I would put in the SAKO factory bipod, hear the click and it would seem like it's locked in. But when I exert just a little bit of pressure on the bipod legs, the bipod would come off without even pressing on the release thing at the bottom of the bipod. Anyone know what I am talking about?

check the pins and spring that hold the locking attachment on the bipod. I had the pin that holds this assembly shear on my bipod after about 750 rds of .338lm. It was an easy fix just went to ace and got some steel dowel that fit the hole and haven't had any problems since.

I just replaced mine with the Atlas direct mount and a Atlas V8. I like it more than the TRG biod, and it doesn't move or scratch the barrel when in the "undeployed" position....

That is what I just did. As able to get both from Triad Tactical and both pieces were in stock when I ordered the other week so I didn't even have to wait long for it. I like the TRG bipod but it does have some issues, like the scratching of the barrel you mentioned. I also shoot mostly at an indoor 100 yrd range when I cannot make it out to the longer distance ranges and the TRG bipod gets little to no grip on the concrete.

How did yours break?

I think the atlas is a great piece of kit, but for those who have used the TRG bipod I think it is hard to beat. I shoot mainly out in the desert not on concrete and thats where it shines. I personally could care less about scratching the barrel as my rifle is anything but a safe queen.

The pin holding the locking lever and spring snapped in two from regular use.

I still like the TRG bipod too much to give it up for something else, it really works well for me.

I think maybe they mean after you put some FORCE on it - like when the rifle is laying in a case, in a vehicle, and the vehicle hits a good bump, and the rifle moves up and then falls back down. Not merely at rest.

Exactly, though mine didn't take that much force. The bipod is kind of loose in the accessory slot so there is some play in that as well a little play in the legs. With the legs folded forward, a small amount of force can make the legs contact the barrel. The gun laying on its side at the right angle could make the bipod foot contact the barrel, just as if the legs are bent back they could contact my scope on the side of the objective.

Maybe some of you guys have a much tighter fitting bipod. Still an absolutely awesome bipod for field shooting, but just not worth it for me when less than 50% of my shooting is in the field.

I never cared for the TRG bipod I sold it within 90 days. I agree that the feet are great in dirt/sand/grass. My buddy has an older TRG bipod with the wider stance and I liked that a little more than the current design.

I'll stick with Atlas or Harris. Heck I might even try one of the LRA's at some point.
