I dislike 'versus' topics, which is why I named this topic the way that I have.

I have heard (read) good things about the Suppressed Armament Systems Arbiter Titanium 30cal can and I've been wondering how it stacks up against the TBAC 30P-1 or 30BA. As much as can be discerned via YouTube, both sound really great from an AR-10. That being said, it really comes down to price and POI repeatability. From what I've been told, the SAS has anywhere from 1/2" to 1" maximum shift.

Do any of you own one or both and if so, any info you can give would be appreciated.

Re: SAS Arbiter Ti and Thunderbeast Comparison

I have the SAS Arbiter. Shift is about 1 inch 6 o'clock and repeatable.

'Course i'll probably never shoot my 300WM unsuppressed again...

Re: SAS Arbiter Ti and Thunderbeast Comparison

My SAS is 100% repeatable. The shift is about an inch, but it doesn't even matter as I zero with the can on and it is the same every time I shoot even though the can comes off in between every time.

Re: SAS Arbiter Ti and Thunderbeast Comparison

I own a SAS 7.62 and not only is POI consistent but it also tightens my groups by 1/4 MOA or better.

I come across your posts often and I feel as strong about SAS suppressors as you do about Geissele Triggers. I'm not going to try and steer you in any specific direction but I will say that I'm extremely happy with my suppressor choices. My paperwork just came back for the SAS .338 QD and I will be testing with that this weekend.

Once you have your own suppressor, you will not want to take it off and shoot unsuppressed. POI shifting is not much of a concern among the majority.

hmm. I have a SAS Ti and a friend has a 30p-1 that just got to his dealer. I suppose we ought to do a comparison test and post it up here.

+1 for me. Don't leave home without it.

Of course I just sent off the paperwork Monday so its going to be awhile.

Re: SAS Arbiter Ti and Thunderbeast Comparison

My SAS Arbiter Ti w/ TOMB shifts 1 MOA straight down repeatably on my .308. Couldn't ask for any better.

No experience with the Thunderbeast, but I'd expect similar results. I'd be interested to see the differences.

I'm sure your SOT can be talked to participating in the comparison. I'm sure he dislikes you by now, but I'm sure my presence will make up for it.

Re: SAS Arbiter Ti and Thunderbeast Comparison

I compared the SAS to the TBAC side by side. Was unable to shoot any groups with the SAS, but the TBAC was phenomanal (sp) shoting groups. But, SAS got the nod for better suppression, more of a whoosh than the TBAC.

Also, the TBAC had more sparks, barely any at all, come out the end of the barrel than the SAS. Interesting fact I never would have noticed if I did not video them both.

I went with the TBAC for accuracy, and the suppression is not that much worse at all, just different. Cant wait to try the SAS again for groups.

Regards,
DT

Re: SAS Arbiter Ti and Thunderbeast Comparison

By unable to shoot any groups with the SAS I hope you mean it as unable to try to do it. If the accuracy was off I'd think there was something wrong with the rifle, or the alignment. Mine shoots better than me and I can hold 1/2in at 100yds or better. I don't think I've ever heard of the SAS cans not being accurate.

Re: SAS Arbiter Ti and Thunderbeast Comparison

Thanks, I was confused because you said you went with the TBAC for accuracy. That's kinda miss guided since the SAS didn't get the same test. If you ever do get to do a side by side for accuracy I'm sure we'd all like to hear about though.

Re: SAS Arbiter Ti and Thunderbeast Comparison

Tag. I'm looking at the SAS Arbiter. I have the TOMB brake on my barrel already. D_TROS, if you ever feel like letting me attach your Arbiter to try out I'd love to put a few rounds down range through it some time.

Do you shoot any of the matches at CRC?

Re: SAS Arbiter Ti and Thunderbeast Comparison

Hey COFox, I have the TBAC, not the Arbiter.

I do shoot the CRC match, but last month and this month I have prior engagements.

I would be willing to let you try it any time though.

Re: SAS Arbiter Ti and Thunderbeast Comparison

Ah, misread your above comment then...thanks for the offer. I've shot a TBAC on a rifle by another member here (bzinbv) and liked it. Was wanting to try out the Arbiter since that's what I'm leaning heavily towards buying.

I don't think I'll make this months shoot at CRC but will try for the April shoot.
