Savage 10 Ba Rifles

Im looking at buying a Savage rifle , I really like the Savage 10ba and the 110ba . Does anyone have any experience with Savage rifles? Are they good ?
Take some time and read through these forums and you'll find a ton of Savage fans. Most of them will tell you that it's the best out of the box rifle that you can get for the price (including me!). I'm not a fan of the BA series of hardware (just based on looks and they way they fit me), but Savage rifles, in general, are an excellent buy and I've seen a lot of impressive shooting done with the BA series.

I think they are a great way to get your feet wet. I had not been behind one before a couple of weekends ago at Grant Lavelle's scoped rifle course. He had a drill were you would dope your rifle for said distance, then move right and shoot your neighbors rifle. I shot two Savage 10 rifles during these drills and no complaints here. Nailing 4 inch plates at 600 no problem.

Experience with the 10BA(.308) only. The brakes work as intended on them, it cuts down the recoil to about a .223... Pistol grip works well, the adjusters for the stock...they're comfortable except dialing them it can be a pain. After you put the scope/bipod on there... very heavy rifle, and if/when you switch the barrel... it will get even heavier if you get a heavier contour, which I'd call the one on it stock is almost like a medium... I can't remember exactly but I want to say it's in the low .700"s

I've got the 110BA (338LM) and really love the rifle. The rifle shoots amazingly well (1/4 to 1/2 MOA). It's got a fully adjustable stock and the brake works very well. The only complaint I have is that I have experienced the sticking brass cenario with reloaded ammo...(factory new ammo always has extracted 100% of the time). I am trouble shooting the extraction issue currently by trying a couple different options in my reloading practices as well has gun options and will post my outcomes as I get them.

The BA makes more sense shooting .338 or .300 win mag (110 BA) rather than short action (10 BA) simply because of how much they weigh. IMHO there are better options even in the Savage lineup as far as short actions go. If you're looking at the magnums, that weight will eat a lot of recoil, and they seem to shoot well to boot.
