Savage 10 BAS-K

Hi All, I'm new here and this is my first post. I've been doing some research on various sniper rifles. I want to get a DPMS SASS, but in the case I can't get one, I've come across the Savage 10 BAS-K as an alternate choice. I can't seem to find to much info on this rifle. Does anybody here have any experience with this rifle or handled it???

Just a bit of background ... I'm an LEO that will soon be going through a precision rifle course and have been picked to be the sniper for our TacTeam. BTW, I'm left handed and may have problems with a bolt action. That's why I prefer a SASS, but if not available ...then bolt action it is. Thanks for listening, Take Good Care and Be Safe Always.

Re: Savage 10 BAS-K

I've handled one at a gun store, but haven't had any trigger time on them. It's impressive to look at, but for practical purposes they seem overly bulky and heavy. The long scope mounting rail requires the use of high rings also, putting the scope pretty far above the bore centerline. With larger scopes, this can make the balance of the rifle akward from a rest or bipod. Overall, I think the only advantage it has over the other 10 series tactical rifles is the detachable magazine system. As a lefty, you'd probably be better off with a dedicated left hand model of their standard tactical 10FLCP:
