I am planning on buying a 308 bolt gun and have narrowed my choices down to these two rifles.
The savage as a 18" heavy barrel 1 in 10 with the magical 5 R rifling and the savage accutrigger and a very attractive price point $$$
The Remington is a 20" heavy barrel *cold hammer forged* (confirm?) 1 in 10 twist..with the trigger that everyone replaces from what i have read. Remington is offering a $40 rebate on most of its SPS line so this would put this rifle $80 more than the savage after the rebate.
I would be shooting at 400 yards banging steel plates..I also reload so would like to get into some target shooting probably at 200-300 Its just a hobby of mine right now but eventually plan on turning it into a 260 remington.
So which would you prefer if you had $600 to spend on a rifle ?
