Savage 10FCP question?

Re: Savage 10FCP question?

From what I've been told, if the barrel is stamped ".308 Win"
You can shoot ammo marked "7.62x51" out of it.
If the barrel is marked "7.62x51", it is not OK to shoot .308 ammo in the gun.

Sorry, I was mis-informed. this should be correct.
Thanks Axeman

Re: Savage 10FCP question?

i have a bunch of mil surp stuff i started buying and now i am not sure what to do with it. it will never see the bolt gun and i am selling the cetme so i am not sure what to do with it. but if your thinking of running it in the 10fcp, i would make a suggestion/observation. start reloading. i would have to guess that a round you built up with even the cheapest brass and bullet combo would shoot better than most mil surp stuff. there is good stuff out there and the price is good, but im loading 168g smks in lake city match brass for under ... crap. under .80 cents i think. or in the 80 centish range. not much more than milsurp and you can tailor your load to your rifle.

just a thought

Don't want to / cant reload where you are?

Try a box of this against some of the other rounds you usually shoot.

I don't have the time to reload. Its a choice between buy ammo and more trigger time or reload and less trigger time for me.

I have seen good results (which doesn't necessarily mean you will) but its worth seeing how it compares to some of your other options.

At around $1.05 or so a round, its still reasonably economical compared to other commercial ammo.

Re: Savage 10FCP question?

I shot a bunch of m118lr through my savage with no real problems. Every now and then I would get a little stiff bolt lift. My rifle has a short throat and they were a little in the lands, so I seated them a little deeper. Problem solved. I would usually get about 3/4-1/2 moa out of them.
