I'm looking to pick one of these up soon. What can you guys tell me about these rifles? Will it handle the 75 gr. A-max?

The 75gr A-Max is hit and miss in 1:9 twist barrels. Just make sure you push it hard to help your chances.
Savage makes a good, less expensive rifle. I had a 10FP in .308 with the tupperware stock that would usually hold 3/4" at 100yds with the factory ammo that it liked. Occasionally it would throw out a 1/2" group, but that was the exception, not the norm.

The first to go will be the shitty stock. I have plans to get the Choate tactical for it.

The the tactical B&C medalist, a shilen or LW pre-chambered barrel, SSS recoil lug, will turn this into a consistent under .5 MOA gun with out a lot of expense. I did this to mine and the only time it shot over that was a .6 10 shot group. 5 shot groups run in the .3s.

Don't replace one shitty stock with another. Do a bit of research and you might find that there are more ergonomical stocks out there that don't weigh as much as a small Volkswagen.
Then again there are a few that like the Choate stocks, generally though they probably haven't run anything else aftermarket.
Accutrigger is easy to adjust.

The rifle will be for benchrest/target shooting so I'm not concerned with the weight issue. I have read lots of good reviews about the Choate stock and the only people who seem to knock it are the die hard McM and B&C lovers. Besides I can't afford to spend that kind of money on a stock. I'll put the money left over on some good glass.
