So, I picked one up at the LGS today as a replacement for a R700P I sold and was curious if anyone has one?

I am sure the stock is junk and hope to replace it with a Mcrees chassis (they are on sale right now) but other than that it looks good.

The only sad part is it appears I had moment when sizing the last batch of brass and they are a bit too long according to the case gauge I just got (they worked fine in my RDP and R700P rifles but not in the Savage without using more force to close the bolt than I would ilke to use so I guess I have to get a body die or just get a Redding S-Type die set. so that I can bump the shoulder back a couple of thousandths.

I plan on having the barrel threaded for my AAC muzzle brake as well but I like everything else. I have never shot a Savage before so this should be fun.

I can't find much on this model so any input would be helpful.

Thanks!!

Re: Savage 10FP-LE1....anyone own one?

This looks to be the model savage had before they came out with the fp-sr. I think the only change appears to be the factory threaded barrel on the sr (suppressor-ready).

Anyway, I have had the fp-sr for 1.5 years and the rifle is fantastic. Mine is a 1/2 to 3/4 moa gun and the accu-trigger is fantastic. I have never shot a custom trigger or timney to compare it to but its the best ive ever used!

Specs:
B&C medalist tactical
Vortex viper pst 6-24 ffp
SWFA ss low rings
egw 20 moa base
harris 9-13 nothched swivel
jp enterprises tactical compensator

Yes, lots of people own them.

If your brass is to long, then you need to trim it, not buy new dies.
Once you fire the brass in your new action, neck size only. It will reduce trimming, but not eliminate it fully.

No need to spend a fortune to trim your brass:

Thanks for the suggestion but the OAL isn't wrong but the headspace is according to the Dillon case gauge. The Redding S-Type dies will allow me to use the sizing die as a body die by removing the bushing according to their website thus allowing me to "fix" the rounds I messed up without having to pull the bullets.

I have 2 Girauds, a Dillon RT1200, and a Possum Hollow right now so I am set on trimmers

The barrel is 20" vs the 22" of the 10FP-SR though which is something I wanted.

ETA: I don't neck size as I want my brass to work in any rifle in that caliber not be tied to a specific rifle. The cost of the brass isn't a huge deal to me over ammunition compatibility.
