I could be wrong but I thought that the M10 means Model 10 which basically is a class of Savage rifles. The 10FP is just a more specific model within the Model 10 class. There are other models like the 10FCP, 10FCP-K, 10FLCP-K, 10 Precision Carbine, 10FCPXP, 10FCM, 10BAS-K, and 10BAT/S-K. These by the way are all part of their law enforcement line of rifles.
