I decided I needed a .300 mag just to have (I have no otherwise legitimate purpose for one, other than I want a cannon). Spent a long time going back and forth between the Savage 110 and the Remington 5r. Finally flipped a coin and ordered the Savage, then had second thoughts the next day about switching order to the Remington, then stayed with the Savage.

Anyway, it is here and I'm pleased with it. HS stock looks a little odd compared to the ones on my Remmys, but it's very comfortable. Rifle is the right weight. Have not fired it, but it feeds flawlessly. I'm very pleased with the detachable centerfeed mag. No weak extraction issues. Metal finish is very good and even. Bolt cycle is rough due to the matte/rough metal finish, I don't care.

Barrel is not absolutely perfectly centered in the stock. So this is the 3rd Savage I have purchased that has that issue. The other 2 shoot great, so hopefully it will be a non-issue. It's nothing that bothers me, but a particularly anal purchaser should be forewarned.

Accutrigger is near bout perfect out of the box. my unscientific finger guesses 2.5#, no creep whatsoever. Puts the 40x trigger on my 700P to shame.

I am gonna try it without the brake for awhile. We'll see how that goes. If I'm not having fun with it, barrel will get threaded.

Glass to put on it? I have no idea. But I want something with plenty of eye relief. I don't like getting tapped between the eyeballs by scopes on the hard kickers.

Have Winchester brass, 210M primers, and H4350, gonna start out by playing with 190 SMK's. We shall see where it goes from there.
