Like the title says does anyone know how many action screws Model 12 LRP has? I came across conflicting info online. Some say it has 2 like model 10 with the 4.4" spacing and some say its like model 12 target action with 3 screws. I know LRP action is based on Target but has DBM so im not sure how a middle screw would work but just want to make sure. Stores around me dont have the LRP in stock so I would really appreciate if someone who has a LRP would let me know. It's going to go in an AICS chassis so im hoping it has 2 screws with 4.4" spacing

I purchased two Savage 12 LRP rifles in 260 Remington last year. One rifle came with a H-S Precision PSV118 (not my favorite), and the second came with the more-expensive H-S Precision PST114 stock. I "sold" the PSV118 sock to a gunsmith named Greg Miller located in Pennsylvania using eBay last year, and although this thieving dirtbag swindled me with a PayPal hustle, I became very familiar with the product and specifications. I later bedded the PST114, and became an expert on their product.

To answer your question, this Savage short action has a 4.4" spacing with TWO bolts: one long and one short. I have my originals from the PSV118 'sale', if you need them.

Thanks! Glad to hearvthat. I have the PST 114 that came with my 10 FCP-HS in 308. It's in AICS now. Once I get the LPR 260 I'm going to drop it into AICS and drop the 10 into the original HS PST114 and sell whatever stock the LRP comes in.
Do you know if I can use a base mount from Savage 10 round top on LRP? Or would I need a target action specific base?

Sorry your were sqindled. What exactly happened? Where in PA is this dirtbag, how did the con work?

Back in August 2013 I sold a new take-off H-S Precision PSV118 stock on eBay to Mr. Gregory B. Gemberling (aka Greg Miller). After presenting himself as a gunsmith we corresponded with the specifics of the stock and he made purchase. I shipped to the address PayPal directed me (New Market Street, Freeburg, PA) using FedEx ground service with full insurance. Days later I received an email notification that the package was delivered, but within ten minutes after that I got a phone call from the buyer stating the package was not delivered and he was going to open a PayPal claim. He even went so far as to say his town only has about three-hundred residents, and there's an identical street address at "Market St" that his packages get delivered to instead of "New Market St". Shortly after the phone call, the buyer wrote me an email stating I should have got adult signature service because I'll never be able to prove it was delivered to him. He told me not to worry, because FedEx would pay my insurance claim. This raised alarm with me, and I contacted PayPal who told me the email was not sent through the eBay system so it would not be considered.

So I contacted FedEx and filed an insurance claim, while PayPal sat on the open case. During this time, the buyer claimed that he contacted FedEx and was told I had already been paid for my insurance claim. He then began writing me emails demanding a refund, to which I responded the claim was still pending. Days later the FedEx investigation concluded that the driver, in full view of his trainee assistant, had handed the package over to Mr. Gemberling at his doorstep. The driver's documented delivery and investigation statement resulted in FedEx denying my insurance claim. I wrote back to [email protected], who also goes by the alias gemby58, but he dismissed my accusation and told me that next time I should ship with adult signature if I want to win a claim. Follow-up emails to the buyer received responses mocking my lack understanding how the eBay claim system works.

Based on his many email messages and phone call, it was clear that once the package arrived without any adult signature requirement he took full advantage of the PayPal claims system he was familiar with and expected FedEx to pay the insurance claim, making it a 'harmless' offence... except that FedEx proved the package was hand-delivered to him and PayPal disregarded their insurance investigation because their sole requirement is an adult signature on items over $250.

I have some very good advice for you: pull the factory barrel off and replace it with a Criterion or Shilen pre-fit from Jim at Northland Shooters Supply. It will be the best $350 you ever spent on a rifle. Here's why:

I have owned three Savage rifles in the past three years: one 11 LRH, and two identical 12 LRP's. All three have been used in several competitions, and all three have the same rough barrel rifling with tool marks that make the barrel look threaded. I've been fighting a losing battle with inconsistent velocities, horrid fouling, blown primers, and countless unexplained flyers. Half the 260 Lupua brass I bought went in the trash thanks to pressure problems. It wasn't until I gave in and bought a new barrel that the difference was made clear.

Not only did I shoot five shots in a 1.5" group at 330 yards with a 28" Criterion barrel, but I'm able to get the same velocity out of the same cartridge using two grains less powder. I would get 2810 FPS* (average) from 44.0 grains H4350 using 140 grain AMAX and Remington brass, but now I get a solid 2830 FPS from the exact same cartridge along with much tighter groups. I fired fifty rounds through the Criterion barrel and it hardly had any sign of carbon afterwards, whereas the factory barrels would foul the lands and rifling with copper after only ten shots.

Take a good close look at the rifling in your barrel, and unless it's a mirror finish you'll be fighting it forever. Here's what both my 12 LRP factory barrels look like after a few rounds. My Criterion barrel cleaned to a mirror finish again after one wet patch and one dry... no brush needed.
