Im looking at these two just to play around and see how far i can go with .224 cal pills. Same price model features etc. 22-250 has 1/9 twist .223 1/7 i could push up to 80gr pills with the 250 and 90's with the .223. I already have dies etc for both. Although ive never owned a 250. i load it for my brother. Due to weight of the gun i will use Mainly for hitting steel out to 800. But would use on coyotes some im sure. and either would make a mean prarie dog gun. Any opinions are much appreciated.

Own both in several rifles, I grew up hunting coyotes, the 22-250 is and has always been 'bad medicine' for coyotes-so while the 223 can and will get the job done, the extra powder of the 22-250 will give you the edge on clean/humane harvests. BTW, in the 'old days' of bench rest, the 22-250 had a following-it's one of those rounds that just doesn't disappoint. My only caution is the availability/cost of ammo, the 223 is going to be easier to get and cheaper to load. Out here.

Yeah my main coyote gun is a small light 243 700. And 90% of the time i will stick with that. So i guess its down to 250 using 80 gr or .223 using 90gr. I should probably get a 250 everbody around here has em swears by em. Ive only shot em off of a bench testing loads. Ive always took the .243 over the 250.
