Hi, I have a Savage HMR17 model 93 and I am a little concerned. I shot approximately about 50 rounds through it, and experienced no problems chambering rounds and ejecting them. But, here is my problem as I removed the bolt to clean the rifle with a cleaning rod and patches, everything went smooth, but, when I tried to put the bolt back I had to use some force to put it back where it goes. This rifle is 5 months old. This is the first cleaning so I never noticed the difficulty in putting the bolt back in. as I also have the heavy barrel one as well, and have had nowhere near the issues as to put the bolt back. Is there some way I can fix this on my own? Has anyone else experienced these issues as well? Should I be concerned?
Thanks,
HammerHeadHank

Re: Savage 93 Help, concernes

Sometimes if the front half of the bolt gets rotated out of position it's near impossible to reinstall until you rotate it back. Also if the trigger isn't pulled back far enough to lower the release it will be a little rough going in.

I agree with Jes629.

Practice stripping and reassembling a couple of times and see if the problem is consistant.

The 93 uses a stamped/stacked bottom assembly and it's possible that something isn't assembled correctly to let the trigger go back far enough to release the bolt.

Otherwise i'll give you $50 for it....
