My Dad has a 10FP in 223. I want to get him a new barrel for Christmas. Will a barrel listed for a 110 Savage fit the 10? I may have a few questions after some surfing.

Re: Savage barrels

Hello! With Savage Arms the two digit (10) are short action recievers and the three digit (110) are long action guns. You could put a 110 barrel on a 10 reciever but the opening in the reciever isn't long enough to eject the long cartridge. You could do it the other way around, put a 10 bbl. on a 110. At least that is my understanding of the Savage Arms 10 and 110 numbering system, Thats the way I read the Savage Arms brochure. BILL

Re: Savage barrels

The .223 10fp is a short action. I beliieve the 110 is a long action. I could be mistaken so double check.
Are you considering switching calibers or just barrels?
Are you interested in a particular barrel maker or just an upgrade from stock?
FWIW I bought a pre-chambered & pre-threaded Lothar Walther for my 10fp (.308) and couldn't be happier. I got mine here http://ferret50.com/products.html. for $289 they are a steal.
