Savage Caliber Conversion .223/.308

I have a Savage Model 12 in .223 and I want to convert to .308 win so I can have a 308 to shoot while my current REM 700 .308 gets barreled to .260.

Two Questions

1. Anyone know if any other makers of a savage .308 Bolt Face besides Savage, PTG, and SSS? Opinions? The Stock Savage .308 face is in stock at midway along with my follower I need. I am not in too big of a rush I just wonder if it is worth it to wait for supply to catch up from SSS or PTG to get one of thier's as I have heard they are better.

2. Will I need any other parts besides just the stripped .308 head and the new follower to convert from .223?

yes , an ejector,exstractor and spring for both, also need a pin for the ejector
midway should have all these peices, if they dont try Numrich
ptg may be better -but I wouldnt wait for the difference
my rifles all have stock bolt parts & do just fine
a barrel of course
I'd look for a factory take off -SAV factory barrel's ROCK
but all the cool kids still replace em
your gonna need a few tools as well
action wrench & a barrell nut wrench -minimum

You found PTG, you need not look any further-none better IMHO.

I found the springs, they don't look like they carry the extractor, but almost everything says for "All Calibers". I gave a call to my gunsmith he said it everything should swap as long as I have the the proper bolt head. Not taking anything away from you, My buddy who has the barrel also has the .308 bolt face with it as well so if I don't need to order any other parts other than a follower which is not end of the world I would like to be able to go over and screw this booger on.
