Savage FP10 trigger pull

I'm headed to sniper school in a few months, and will be getting my first shots at 300+ yardage. I've only ever played with my Savage using lowest and highest settings. Right now the trigger is tuned to around 8lbs. I'm wondering if 8 is too heavy on the longer shots and need some input on the subject.

Any and all info is greatly appriciated.

Re: Savage FP10 trigger pull

My bad then. I'm at work and could have sworn I read that the Savage's max pull (which is where I am) is 8 lbs.

3.5 though? I'll give it a whirl. Any reasoning behind that poundage, or is it just an adapted norm?

Re: Savage FP10 trigger pull

I am not saying it won't go to 8 pounds, but I thought it was somewhere in the 1.5-6 lb range.

The reason for the 3.5 lbs is it is light enough for tactical precision shooting (not benchrest or target shooting) but heavy enough to prevent most negligent discharges.
