Hey guys, new guy here. I did a quick search but didn't find anything. I've been looking at the Savage Hog Hunter as the base of a precision rifle build (note I didn't say sniper?

). I can't find many reviews of this gun and was curious if anyone here has anything to say about it.

Oh, and don't worry about mentioning the stock, because that's probably the first thing that will be swapped.

338 WM Savage Hog

Have a Savage Hog in 338WM
Put a Manners TF2 stock, badger Rail upto with a USO SR8, C2 reticle, really love the scope , paired the gun with an AAC Titan QD ;

With Barnes 225TTSX ammo, does 1.5 MOA at 200 Yards,

The gun handles really well , killed a couple of hogs with it, both inside 200yds, drops them hard!

If you want a reciever to build off of get a Stevens 200 action, you will save hundreds of dollars and be ditching the stock, trigger and barrel anyways. The Stevens 200 action is identical to the Savage but with the cheapest possible stock and trigger.

I just looked at one of these at my local gun shop in .308. I am interested in building a long range rifle and all the reading I have been doing is leaning me toward the 6.5 creedmore. The sale price on it was $399, I am mostly interested in the action. If I understand correctly I can re-barrel this with a 6.5 creedmore correct?
