So, while I'm waiting for the barrel to cool down;
Hey Hide, a lot of you have helped tremendously with issues I've had concerning my Savage LRP. I worked on the magazine a bit and now the bolt it pushing rounds off the mag to the chamber a lot easier. I have not had a single handload get stuck in the chamber since that first box of Hornady.

I've made up few loads and am currently in the field putting them to the test. I'll have some pictures of what is working and what is not. I will say this; so far I've shot 20+ rounds and the V100 powder looks to be doing fairly well, at least to my standards lol. Here's the only pic for now; I'm totally loving my prone wooden shooting platform I made. I have it propped up on bricks and its just wonderful compared to the alternatives!
Still have about 50 rounds to go! I'm going to be out here for awhile soaking up the sun.
All groups are being shot off a bipod.

I'll post pictures of groups when I'm all done. Thought I would share.....and kill some time while the new LRP cools down.

I like the idea of the wood shooting "mat", but you might watch for any excessive bipod hop on such a hard surface as this may cause come extra vertical dispersion. I always like to have my bipod feet on a softer surface, or have sand bags set behind the feet. Let us know how it does!

Yeh, thanks for that advice. I did have a bit of "hop" so a few of my groups kinda looked like vertical stringers, I'll put some pics up of the targets. Next time I'll screw some soft pad to the area my bipod sits on to see if that helps, as well as placing a sand bag behind the feet.

finally took some pics of the targets...

I love looking at target pics from you all, so I finally got around to some pics of my own. All targets were shot on the same outing, all with V100. I posted mulitple pictures of V100 40gr load with 130VLD Bergers, because that was my best performing load. The SMK's did not work well for me. I will be doing more AMAX load testing soon with the V100 as its the only powder I have much of. Enjoy the pics, let me know what you think. I feel like the gun is capable of very very tight groups if I can do more on my end of the trigger and the reloading bench.
This is my best, and only 200yd group of the day. Funny that it was almost the same or better than my 100yd groups!

100yds, 1 fouling shot. Are groups like this indicative of bipod hop?

Is this a .260? My LRP likes hot loads. I found 44.5gr of 4350 with the 142gr SMK was the best. I tried the 140gr Bergers and got near the same groups but they were much slower.

6.5Creedmoor. I only have 1 pound of h4350, and until I can get 2 or 3 pounds I am not going to start load development with it. I'm hoping switching to h4350 will put my smk's on par with what i have now.

What is "V100" powder?

Are you talking about Hybrid 100V by Hodgdon?

If so, I think you should try "pouring on the coals" a little, and step it up a bit.

It is a rare barrel indeed that truly won't shoot the 142smk well.

Turbo, Yes, Hogdon 100V. Next time I get a weekend I plan on doing some more work with the smk's. I'm really looking forward to get'n them to shoot. The 100V berger VLD 130 loads are dialing right on elevation(3.2moa) for 300yds so i assume its close to 2600fps.
