Gunsmithing Savage magazine Question

I am switching a savage 110 7mm rem mag to a 260 rem and i was wondering if i keep the box magazine on it or have to switch to one for "30-06" family of cartridges. It is currently a stagerfeed blind box so if i do have to change it how do you remove them from the action? Thanks for any help.

It may feed ok from the magnum box. Try it first. I've had a few picky ones that didn't like to feed, to I switched to the other box.

The easy way to remove the box is to screw the rear action screw into the front hole. Take the old factory recoil lug (you did upgrade your lug didn't you?) and wedge it between the screw and the mag box. It should pop right out.

Installing is easy too. Prop the barreled action up against a wall or something with the tang on the ground. Take the largest flat blade screwdriver you can find and put it in the front of the box against the tab. Give it a solid whack with the palm of your hand. It should seat the tab correctly.
