Re: savage mk II scope base

I have a 20MOA EGW and really like it.

The only thing I don't like is that the ejection port doesn't match up perfectly. I have a Mk II and the base <span style="font-style: italic">is</span> for a Mk II, and function is not affected - it's just an aesthetic thing.

The function is absolutely wonderful.

Re: savage mk II scope base

The 20 MOA Base is slanted downward (towards the muzzle) which aids in giving you further range with your chosen scope should you decide to shoot at longer ranges (say out to 200 yards), and aids your scope in giving you enough adjustment for such shooting.

I have a EGW 20 MOA Base for my MK II-FV and it helps a lot shooting out to 200 yards being able to put the cross-hairs on the target and taking the shot without having to depend on best guess hold over.

Re: savage mk II scope base

thanks for the bump strawboss....

remeber one thing (and i don't know how experienced you are) it is a mil spec picatinny slotted base, if you use weaver rings, you have to bump the front one up against one of the "ridges" and then the other ring against one of the "ridges" (in the opposite direction) in the back to keep the rings / optic combo from sliding around.

the slots are wider than weaver slots, bumping the rings against the ridges keeps them locked in place.

Re: savage mk II scope base

I have the same rifle, alexfiggy, (Savage Mark II FVT) and have an EGW 20moa base. Love it. I would highly reccomend it. Just make sure you measure the ejection port on your rifle first. The newer Savages have a longer (1 5/8) ejection port like the Savage 93, therefore they take a different base than the EGW-listed Mark II bases which fits the older Savage Mark II with a 1 3/8 ejection port.

Out of curiosity, are the clicks on your aperature sight half MOA or quarter MOA? My manual says quarter, but my experience has been that it shoots like they are 1/2 MOA (which is more than fine by me!)

Re: savage mk II scope base

well i just got this rifle after the holidays. i got the regular scope base, not 20 moa base .i dont shoot past 50 yards with this rifle .i dont even have a range thats longer than 100 yards by my house. i live in miami fla. i check my rifle ejection port to see how long it is.

Re: savage mk II scope base

i never read my manuel, i dont think it had anything about the willams peep site?i i think its a 1/4 clicks. the adjustments are very fine.the rifle is nasty accurate .all my buddys want one.i shot a match with it, and i had more than one perfect. all 10 shots inthe 10 and x ring off hand with it at 25 yards. i was useing remington eliy target ammo.
