Here are some results and pics from the day. First pics are from my savage MKII hunting 22 with sporter barrel. Last five pics are from my savage 93 22 mag hunting rifle also with sporter barrel. Targets are either 1" squares and circles or a 2 1/2" circle with 1" square at top. Its easy to tell what's what. In the first pics from my 22LR I had narrowed down the rifles favorite ammo to a few. I believe the photos leave no question who the winner is. In the 22mag pics I have a few questions. Any ammo besides CCI 40 gr standard 2000 fps begins to walk left as the barrel heats. Anyone ever seen this? Doesn't make sense. At first I thought it was me, but I can shoot great groups with 40 gr ammo. Any help is appreciated and enjoy the pics. All from 50 yards with wind gusting from 5 to 15 right to left or target straight back. Not my best shooting but between the wind and the guy next to me raising hell with his nagants at the 50 yard range its not that bad.

The next targets are the 2 and a half in circles with a 1 in square at the top. The goal was 3 shots into the circle with 2 Following into the square. These were done as fast as possible!

Re: savage MKII + 93G range report and questions.

was the wind at around 10-15 mph from the right (3:00) when the mag shots were taken?

i have not bedded any of my rimfires yet, but i imagine it would improve things overall, and certainly couldn't hurt.

relooking at the targets, just like you said, goes more left with every sequential shot, so maybe the wind isn't doing it. does it return to center once the barrel cools?

Re: savage MKII + 93G range report and questions.

Once barrel cools it will return to center and begin to walk left again. Again this is only with HV ammo and I haven't tried any of the hornady yet, tough to get around here

that's odd, man. i can't help you out on it. what your saying there rules out a scope problem, to wander over that consistantly time after time by an inch at 50, is almost "extreme"

good luck, i'm out of ideas other than to bed the receiver and the barrel, or put a good barrel tuner on it

Re: savage MKII + 93G range report and questions.

Is the barrel free-floated? Sounds like more stock pressure on the right side, causing the shift as the barrel heats and swells.
