So Cal
I like both. The TR looks like a sniper rifle, but the BTVS has alittle cool factor with the thumbhole stock.

From reading the forums it looks like accuracy is the same.

Which one would you get?

your comments are greatly appreciated. I love this forum.

Re: Savage MKII TR or BTVS???

I had the BVTS and sold it to get the TR. AFter looking back, I love the new rifle 10x more than the BVTSS. The thumbhole stock felt alright, but the TR stock fits in with acouple other rifles that I have sitting in my safe. Therefore I use it a a trainer. Get whatever feels best to you, but my vote goes for the TR.

Re: Savage MKII TR or BTVS???

I bought both, but probably only because the TR wasn't out yet at the time I bought the thumbhole model. I really like the thumbhole, but I bought the TR too since it's very similar to my long range precision rifles. The TR was something like $125-150 more than the thumbhole. You basically pay for the stock, matte black appearance, scope rail and larger bolt knob, so if you want those, go TR. Otherwise save some $.

Re: Savage MKII TR or BTVS???

If you are going for a thumbhole, I might consider trying to find one of the mkii mako, I don't like the angle on my thumbhole as much as on some other thumbhole models. It is almost designed more for shooting from a bench then prone if that makes sense. I think I would go with the TR.

Re: Savage MKII TR or BTVS???

Well I pulled the Trigger and bought the BTVS. It just felt better in my hand. Now I have to wait to get it out of Jail. I will post some pics when it arrives.

Thanks again for all your inputs.
