Re: Savage Model 10 Carbine 308
I have one, and it shoots pretty good for me. I have shot it out to 1300 yards - the farthest I could go - using 175gr FGMM. The loss in velocity with the 20" barrel meant that I had to adjust more for the drop, and beyond 1000 it really got tough for me to keep on target. At 100 yards, I could shoot typically 3/4 MOA with it. Only one time did I shoot a 1/2" group (5-shot) at 100 yards, but that was from a bench, and I was 'having a great day'. I just haven't gotten around to working up a hand load. With the price of 175gr FGMM right now, when I factor in my time, it's just cheaper for me to shoot that stuff and keep the brass for later, than to take the time to work up a load for it. At any rate, I'm not sure that I could work up a load more accurate, and if I did, I'm not sure I'm capable of taking advantage of it. In any case, it's a great rifle for the money. I also bought 3 RatMagz off of a Hide member who makes them. Mine were the 10-round versions, and they worked GREAT with the rifle. Hope this helps.
