I recently purchased one of the new Savage's with the H-S precision stock w/5r barrel and was wanting some factory parts for the gun. Called Savage and was told I would have to get a Gunsmith to order them. These parts are a factory muzzle brake from a Model 10 FCP-K .308 and the Large knurled bolt handle from the Model 10 BA,, was told they had to be installed by a gunsmith(I thought you have to be kidding me!!!).Doed anyone have a suggestion how I can(who,where) get these parts, Thanks..

Never heard that about odering parts, guys on other boards are ordering stock, screws and bottom metal all of the time stright from savage.

The muzzle brake will need to be indexed which is why they want a gunsmith to order it.

I would try calling them back. I called on a bolt had one person tell me that same thing, called back a day later got another person, and two days later I had my bolt.

While indexing would be alot better (I can get this done),, I believe the factory brakes are installed with a crush washer,,which makes it no sense why I can't purchase one.... Thanks 2guard thats the bolt handle......Midway is out,,,was hopeing I could get the handle at the same time I get the brake from Savage.

its all a matter of liability i bet. just get a local smith to order it and you do whatever from there
