Savage prefit Actions, a question

Hi guys and gals.

I have a 6.5CM savage pre-fit proof barrel in a remington 700 footprint (with about half life left) which I want to use on another build for a buddy on a tight budget.
What types of actions are available for him to choose from? Trying to stay at about 500 or 600 bucks. Is this possible?

The threads on a Savage are not the same as those on a Remington, and thus, will not work.

If it's a savage orefit for that price just a savage action. By remington are you meaning a remington contour? There are remington "footprint" actions but none in the $500 range. Cheapest I know of is the origin. Which is an awesome action buy your looking at at least $800.

Is it a Remage barrel? Then just get a $400 trued Remington action from Northland Shooters Supply

What people are saying is that a savage barrel in a Remington action is impossible. So clarify what you have?

Onewolf42's suggestion is spot-on....Northland Shooter's Supply will get you squared away. I've done a couple Savage prefits with them, and they've been great to deal with.

Excellent choice. Its the Nucleus or Origin that are the most common budget actions that take Savage barrels. Shillen and JJ Rock also take Savage barrels.
