I have been looking at a Savage 10fp for my first long range gun when I came across a Scout for $250. I can get a new 10fp for $600. Would the 10fp be better to start or can I go with the Scout and upgrade? The scout does not have the accutrigger. Is the action on the Scout the same as the 10fp minus the box mag? Can I put the Scout on a better stock and then add a longer barrel/heavy barrel like the 10fp? If so, by the time I do all that is the 10fp just better to start with? Thanks

I'll buy the Savage Scout for $250. PM me. If you decide to get it, why in the world would you put a heavy barrel on it? That rifle is designed for point and shoot. The action is the same though to answer your question. Just a shame to destroy that rifle. I'm not even sure that they still make them.

The Savage scout is reliable. You can stiffen the stock or you can upgrade if you wish. That price is a bargain.
