Hey guys. I want to build a savage target action based rifle that I can exchange barrels on. My question is, can I use this action with a magnum round like a 300 rum if I change the bolt face?
you will be able to do the 300 SAUM/WSM but not an RUM, the savage target actions are short action only, unless you get lucky and find a used model 112 action.
You can use the target action for the big magnums as a single shot. i built 2 338 edges on savage target short actions. You will have to pull the bolt to eject a live round but they eject the emptys perfectly. Remember the target actions are large shank. not sure if the barrels you have are small shank.
