Quinetiq is a pretty smart bunch of engineers…

I can see all kinds of ‘issues’ with fielding such a device.

But it probably works as intended.

Lots of early suppressor designs included loads of moving parts to damp out shockwaves and slow down gasses. Just because they are unwieldy and goofy looking does not mean they are ineffective!!
