I have been planning on getting a 10.5" LWRC upper and using a .30 cal suppressor that will run on both my bolt gun and the SBR. As far as I know, the 10.5" barrel is the minimum length while still maintaining warranties with most of the major suppressor manufacturers. I don't want to get an upper that voids warranties.

The other consideration is terminal ballistics. I've read that at some point, the loss in velocity from SBRs negates the tumbling effect of the 5.56mm round. That's obviously the last thing that I want to do since the 5.56mm doesn't have the punch of larger rounds anyway. Once again, the articles I saw said that a barrel much below 10.5" may not generate enough velocity to cause 5.56mm fragmentation or tumbling on impact.

Does anyone have some experience or feedback on these questions?
