That looks like the Yankee Hill free float tube, I have the same one on my AR.

on the top right side is a sure fire it rides high and out of the way to the left with a LaRue mount. I have put about 100-150 rounds throught it with a suppressor (55 grain only) or the pig its the only way to keep from blowing your hat off HEHE.

Well that report would be full of crap! Its called the flaming pig for a reason. If anything it enhances the flash by a lot. At night you can get a good flame going with it. Its meant as a noise directional device to make a firing line easier on your ears and to increase pressures in an SBR to make it function better.

The cone inside of the device actually directs noise down range giving the effect that a larger group or weapon is firing at you. Mental intimidation...
