It’s been 3 months since I’ve been out due to problems with my barrel. It looks like I got them ironed out for the time being. I shot pretty good today considering my layoff and the shifty wind. I shot a 427 with a dozen Xs. And the first round I had 3 8s getting dialed in.

Board member Gstaylorg took top honors today shooting a 432 with like 17x dang good shooting considering the field today! I hope the barrel keeps together for the season; if it does maybe I can put together a few good matches. Got another 300 in March then a 3X600 and a 1K match in April.

Re: SBRG 300 yard match

Ted,
That was my 2nd time at the South Bay Rod and Gun Club 300 yd reduced Palma match. I think that match format is a lot of fun and its a great bunch of guys. It's a nice change of pace from 600/1000 yd matches.

BTW - I shot 439-17X, but I dropped 5 points in my first 6 shots in match #1. Once I figured out the left side 300 yd wind flag was the only one that mattered, things improved. No doubt whatsoever I would have finished 2nd had Steve Blair brought his 6BR or .284 Shehane. Fortunately, he has a conscience and brought his F-T/R rifle today (LOL). It's both a pleasure and humbling experience watching Steve shoot. He's a freaking machine, he shot something like 446-31X with the Shehane last month and shot even better than that the match before. He'll be bringing one of the two next month, as it's an X-count only match. Fortunately, that gives me a whole month to figure out how to double my X-count from today if I want to give him a run for his money (LOL).

Hope to see you there next month. You planning on making the upcoming SMGC matches at at Pendleton?

Re: SBRG 300 yard match

Wow, I knew you shot a great score, maybe I didn't want to believe I was that far behind!! LOL, Yea when Steve is on he is incredible, I missed the match where he shot the 34X. All I can do is keep plugging rounds down range in hopes of improving. Yes I am planning to shoot both the mid and long range shoots coming up. I am so thankful they got a long range director at Pendleton.
