Feedback Scammed by Bluewave

I have resorted to asking people to FaceTime/Video Chat for high ticket items. If they say sure 99.9% chance they are good to go. If they never respond you have your answer. Hasn’t failed me…yet
As a seller I put in my ad that I am happy to do facetime or video chat. Last scope I sold I installed google video chat to use, at the buyers request.

That sucks sorry to hear that. You’d think the text and different colored ink would be safe. I assume he put the pics with the different colors on the autotrickler and scale too?

And this site makes you become a paid member before you can sell on here. Pfft.
@Shooter01 was he a paid supporter?

Also, here is something to file away for the future…..

Yes, using the internet to commit fraud or theft is generally considered a federal crime, particularly when the activity involves interstate communication, which is often the case with online activities, and is typically prosecuted under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA) or wire fraud statutes depending on the specific circumstances.

If you aren’t a paid supporter they cut you off pretty quick. And Ban you the second they see someone trying to sell anything.

That simply IS NOT TRUE. And I clearly posted the example of why that isn’t true.

If someone posts a wtb, anyone can respond via DM, whether they are a paid supporter or not.

This is expressly why @Lowlight has told people to stop posting wtb ads.

The last 4-5 for sale posts I have replied to recently I've gotten a DM from a different individual from the initial OP to complete the transaction and asking for payment. Be careful...
Even feedback, supporter status and time/ posts here, are no guarantees. A valid account could always have been hacked.

A phone call is always my first line of defense.

I found this searching for “fraud” because I had 2 attempts to scam me over a WTB post.. This second one was a hacked account of a member with great feedback. He must’ve seen the emails and sent me a heads up.

Well my thought is that two factor authentication should be required on all accounts, if that is possible.

Got had by Bluewave, Lonnie Arp, [email protected]

This is on me, he had no feedback, but had a few posts on here, Talked with through text and on here, got pictures with requested things written on paper with two diff. pens.

Beware..... Guy Ghosted me and won't return any messages on here or text......
Hello. I just joined this forum to post on this particular thread. I too was scammed by Lonnie Arp. I'm a member of the Ruger forum. On that forum his user name was "Muleye" and he has since been banned from the forum. The mods told me he was using a VPN and could not be traced by IP address.

Lonnie Arp, [email protected] got $250 out of me. Unfortunately I did not see the red flags. The pics he sent me, after careful review, seem to be AI generated. That old saying, "if it's too good to be true"
PayPal denied my claim even though they knew it was fraudulent. Now I'm going through my bank.
Below are actual pics he sent me of the two Ruger 45 Colt cylinders and a Ruger box.
Feel free to comment.

It is true. As a non paying member, I got banned for a month for even implying that I might sell something. Posting WTB may be different and not require being a paying member. But I’m not gonna bother only to be possibly banned.

I completely stopped posting WTB threads in all forums, it sux but there are just way too many scammers out on the internet these days. Quite honestly, I have even stopped selling on the internet and have gone to face to face for the most part. I had a guy pay for a item with paypal, destroy the item and then file a claim with paypal.

I rarely even try FTF anymore. Several years ago I put a Dillon up for sale. The buyer had lots of requests, odd payment method. Learned he was fairly close snd offered to meet at the location of his choice. He wasn’t “comfortable” doing that. Eventually sold to a guy at my range at a better price.

So you’re saying that you didn’t read the rules then.

In case you missed it, the purpose of this site is not for randoms to come here and sell their things. Sure, many do but they follow the rules, or they don’t and then complain about it. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Here’s the rules in case you are interested:

And further to your wtb ad question:
