I am looking to step in scopes
Its down to a PMII 5-25x56 DT MSR Scope 677-911-842-90-68 w/o locking turrets or a 677-911-842-B2-A8 with locking turrets.
You guys with locking turrets do you like them and should I consider a scope with the MTC

I have both and much prefer the regular non-MTC turrets. Clicks are strong enough to not worry about accidentally moving them. Actually only reason I got the MTC turrets was I wanted the tan colored finish. If I could do it over, I would have got the regular turrets.

I have had the opposite experience. I love the MTC turrets. They make it easy to find my come ups quickly and easily.

As for the locking turrets, you must get them. It is MUCH easier to zero the scope with the LT instead of the older style, which require a lot more steps and there has been confusion in the past. Search for threads on this and you will see there are a lot more questions regarding zero stop and zeroing with the older non-LT turrets.

Meanwhile, the locking turrets also do not move. A friend of mine had a non-LT model and going in and out of his Eberlestock pack, caused a shift in his windage. He never dials wind and so when he started missing shots during our practice, he was surprised later to find that the windage turret had moved without his knowledge. When I lock my turrets, I KNOW they do not move, period.

Hope this information helps. Glad to hear about another soon to be happy customer of Schmidt and Bender. I have seen quite a few people switch from other scopes manufacturers to S&B. You will be happy with your purchase for sure.

Oh, and you will LOVE the MSR reticle. I have used it at several different competitions and it is really nice.

I like the regular DT turret but like the locking MTC even more. If I had to choose I'd have all my S&B's with the locking MTC. Especially when going in and out of the drag bag or gunslinger. The DT windage turret moved one day at a match going from one stage to another in the drag bag which cost me the stage and a win at the end. Also very nice when using holdovers and holdoffs a lot.

All my 5-25s are regular DT but my 3-20 is LT/MTC. At first I didn't like the LT/MTC knobs on the 3-20... now I find myself wanting them on the 5-25s, especially after I had the windage turret on one of my 5-25s move a couple tenths in the bag and I didn't catch it for a couple of shots. If it wouldn't cost so much I'd upgrade all my 5-25s from DT to LT/MTC.

I went from non locking turrets to locking MTC and didn't like them at first, but after about a week they grew on me and I LOVE them now. So much so that the availability of MTC will be a deciding factor for me in future scope purchases. It makes dialing elevation a true no-look operation.

Actually, this conversion is not possible as the main tubes are different on the LT/MTC than those on the DT 5-25's.

I'm aware of that Jerry-- good info for others to know though.

I suppose instead of saying "upgrade" which implied that S&B service could do the conversion I should have said "sell my current DT models and replace them with LT/MTC models" which is what I was considering doing. At current prices I figure it would cost about $4500 if I sold all my current DT 5-25s and bought all new LT/MTC 5-25s to replace them. While I'd like to do it I just can't justify spending that much for a change of turrets.

Understood, was more a heads up for others to realize that its not an option.

Staying on topic, I have both models and prefer the LT/MTC on the Horus equipped scopes but am running standard DT knobs on the other scopes running an H2CMR and MSR.
