Rifle Scopes Schmidt&Bender for POF

Re: Schmidt&Bender for POF

If you are talking about mounts...you want the Larue LT-158 if you are mounting on the POF. I used this mount on my POF P-308 and couldn't be more pleased with it.

I have never seen the Uni-Mount in anything other than 30mm, but that doesn't mean that Nightforce doesn't make a larger, 34mm model. The Larue LT-158 mount is available in a 34mm version.

Re: Schmidt&Bender for POF

You shouldn't need anything other than tall rings to get you to 600 with a 308. Your adjustment should be about 16moa or less than 5mil. The scope can handle that on it's own. Now if you want a one pc mount then the LaRue or the AI mounts will do the job.

Re: Schmidt&Bender for POF

Absolutely want the Larue LT-158. I use them on my POF's and they are perfect with the raised rail. The other cool thing is you can buy the LT-137 to mount an MRD on the ring itself in an offset position, they work great as well.

+1 get the LaRue or get a Nightforce Unimount. You need the offset mounts to get enough height and eye relief

Doesn't the POF rail sits a bit higher? If so, maybe the lower uni-mount would work better for you (1.125")

yeah - i think that would be nice - as long as the objective clears the rail - on my pof i have burris zee sig. extra-high and the front almost touches the rail. i have a Magpul prs and my height feels fine... oh - my scope is a 3-12 by 50mm too. EDITED --> The butler creek front cover actually touches the rail upon opening... i have to slightly cant the front cover a tad up so it opens up and the knobs that stick out of the cover don't brush against the rail.

Re: Schmidt&Bender for POF

I have the 5-25x56 on a pof 308. Have the badger 1.49 rings mounted to the flattop. I have about an 1/8 or a little more clearance on the rails with the butler creek on the scope. Have about 15 mils of up elevation.Probably more scope than yhe rifle needs but damn are they nice. Better to have and not want than to want and not have.

I have nothing but good things to say about LT products and their customer service. Several members in this thread have recommended the LT mount for the S&B on the POF platform. I disagree. Here's why.

I train with and own the S&B 4-16x42, 34mm, ST, CCW, Mil/Mil with XL reticle. I have (in the past) run this optic in the LT SPR-S mount using 34mm rings on two AR platforms and one DPMS LR 308 platform. Quote from LT's website; "Built on the same rugged design of our SPR/M4 mount, this mount was lowered .080" to allow 34 mm rings to be at 1.5" high on centerline. With 1" or 30mm rings, this is a great mount for the AR10 and SR25 Carbines."

The LT mount places the center of the S&B 34mm optic 1.5" high on centerline. This is too high to gain proper cheek weld ** when prone **, in MY experience. It works fine for any shooting position other than prone. IMO the LT mounts work best running an optic with a 1" or 30mm tube, which provides the perfect cheek/stock weld ** in any shooting position **.

I removed the LT mount and mounted the S&B in Badger Ordnance alloy rings, 34mm, High, 1.275". They mount the optic low enough to gain proper cheek weld ** in all shooting positions **, in MY experience. If you plan to shoot to 600 in the prone, you might consider going with the BO rings.
